“Hello World! My name is Sarah Jane and I’m 25 years old. I’m passionate about world affairs and hope to serve my country in the diplomatic sector. I'd like to invite you to visit my page and follow my progress!”

Born in Trinidad & Tobago, Sarah Jane travelled regularly whilst growing up, spending time in Barbados and Costa Rica before studying in the USA. Sarah Jane is passionate about her country, and aspires to be a advocate for its development through a career in diplomacy. With a degree in Political Science and experience working in the Ministry of Energy, Sarah Jane has the necessary prerequisites to shine. In her spare time she enjoys Latin dancing, keeping fit, playing the violin and horse riding. She is a huge fan of Roald Dahl, and also loves reading books by authors of the lost generation, including Hemmingway and Steinbeck. She is also fluent in Mandarin.

“Carenage is a picturesque fishing village by the sea on Trinidad & Tobago’s western peninsula. Small shops and bars along the main road makes driving through town an experience!”

Question Time With Sarah Jane

What website could you not live without and why?

The Quartz Daily Brief – Every morning I get an email from them with bits of international news, world affairs, ideological debates, politics, economic news... Everything! It’s the first thing I do every morning and I can’t live without it!

What is the best app you’ve used in the last year?

Safe Trek! It’s an App that helps me feel safer in a country burdened with crime. It comes hooked up to the local police department. When I’m walking back to my car I keep my hand pressed on the screen and if something happens I release it and it automatically dials 911. As a woman it’s empowering to have this measure in place.

What is your favourite fashion website?

Lookbook.Nu features user submitted street style looks from all over the world! I love seeing what someone did with their cut up jeans in Germany, or how trendsetters in Paris or California play around with textures and colours.

What item of makeup could you not live without?

“Pink Lemonade” lip-gloss by Mac. It’s a pretty, punchy, coral shade that goes with everything. It just makes my face look sunnier!

What is your most famous/memorable encounter?

I recently met Rory McIlroy and was so impressed, by his humility, kindness and vibrant spirit. I asked him for any “Winning” advice and he said “It doesn’t take anything grand, just do your best, and be natural, confident and a good person.” Simple but profound!

Favourite Food?

I have a severe popcorn addiction! I also love French toast; it takes me back to my childhood.

What annoys you most about the world you live in?

People are totally wrapped up in themselves. Smartphones have made it even more pervasive. There is such joy in meeting new people and people wilfully opt out of this because they can’t stop looking at their phones!
