Updates from Ghana - Kakum National Park

22 May 2012

The delegation headed to Kakum National park where they took a hike in the rainforest and experienced the wildlife and all of the park's natural beauty. Some of the highlights included the walk along the Canopy Walkway, which offered stunning views around the park, and trying the delicious coconuts at the end of the hike.

Next came a more sobering visit to Cape Coast Castle, where the guide explained the harsh realities and appalling conditions that many slaves endured. The castle stands as a stark and moving reminder of some of the worst cases of human suffering imaginable.

The delegation were later invited to lunch with the Regional Minister where they enjoyed the generous hospitality and sampled a variety of traditional Ghanaian foods including 'Fufu' and 'Kenke'.
