Miss World in Kenya - greeted by the Masaai chief

28 May 2012

It was an extra special occasion being Africa Day and the Miss World delegation were welcomed by the Masaai with traditional singing and dance as they disembarked the plane.

The delegation later visited a local health clinic specialising in maternity care and child-immunisation, with special attention paid to HIV/Aids sensitisation.

Since 1990, Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge, working in cooperation with the Kenya Wildlife Service, has hosted a reforestation programme, and the delegation took the opportunity to plant trees as a small contribution to help sustain the park's natural beauty.

From the solar panels used for hot water to the warm and friendly interaction guests at the Lodge have with the Maasai, the delegation were struck by the way both new and traditional cultures work in harmony together so effectively.
