Top Model Casting Call Yields Quarter-Finalists
Here at Miss World every moment can feel like a catwalk show, but today there was a very special catwalk set up and the contestants couldn’t wait to strut their stuff!
No wonder, because the runway in question was all part of a casting call to walk in the Top Model final on August 12th. Contestants selected at this stage would be through to the next set of auditions (the quarter finals) and be in with a chance of walking in the show. The ultimate top model will be decided on the 12th.
This year there’s a real treat in store for those lucky enough to be selected! Chinese luxury cashmere brand, 1436, are providing all the clothes that the contestants will wear on the catwalk. That means the most luxurious cashmere on the face of the planet, all hand-wrought by the most skilled craftsmen in the industry. As the brand’s Creative Director - and fashion legend, Graeme Black - put it, ‘It’s cashmere couture’!
The excitement was palpable as Graeme [above] took to the floor to brief the contestants on what was expected of them. He - alongside three other representatives of the brand - would be judging them so the representatives were keen to catch every word.
He started by saying how magnificent they all looked and how he wished every single one of them could be in the show! To be selected, he asked them to tell him a catwalk story with their walk and clarified that he was looking for someone to suit his brand, and who could interpret the clothes in their own way.

He finished by instructing them to ‘become actresses’ and ‘walk casually’, as though they were on a street and not in front of thousands of people! Having wished them all luck, he headed for the judges table and the audition began in earnest.

As the music stated pumping, each contestant walked the length of the room towards the waiting judges, paused and struck a pose, and then held their number up so they could easily be identified. With every single contestant being so unique and fabulous in her own way, you could see how tough it was going to be to pick the models.

Eventually, however, the list of quarter-finalists was complete and you can see those selected below:

A big congratulations to all the contestants, and stay tuned for news of which girls will be walking in the show.
