Shamim Ali Attends World Handwashing Day Event

18 October 2012

Shamim Ali, who finished in the top 15 of Miss World 2012 earlier this year representing Kenya, has been promoting Global Handwashing Day to school children in Nairobi this week.

Speaking in Kayole, Nairobi, Shamim joined the children in washing their hands, and spreading the message of cleanliness to the next generation. She is a strong advocate for charitable causes in her homeland of Kenya, and enjoys getting involved in the community.

An annual event, Global Handwashing Day occurs on the 15th of October, and is a campaign to raise awareness of handwashing with soap as a key approach to disease prevention. Since its inception it has been primarily aimed at children and schools.
