| 28th June Johannesburg Zoo |
Yesterday the Miss World representatives at the World Cup in South Africa travelled to Johannesburg Zoo to officially start the Johannesburg Zoo 10km charity walk.
The charity walk which took place in the zoo’s grounds helped to raise funds for Johannesburg Zoo Seals. The monies raised will go toward a new Seal enclosure. Pricilla, the zoo's seal is temporarily housed at a different facility until the zoo is able to build a new pool enclosure.
The new pool will consist of: a stage area for public show, an amphitheater for visitors to watch the show, an off display holding, training and service facility and a life support system, making it a state of the art exhibit and display arena.
After the charity walk the representatives handled some of the zoo's birds and reptiles. Johannesburg Zoo houses 1784 animals, comprising 365 species in 54 hectares.
