In January this year, Chairman of Miss World Organisation Julia Morley visited the Philippines with Miss World Alexandria Mills and Miss World Africa Emma Wareus. With Philippines licence holder Cory Quirino, they visited the Philippine General Hospital in Manila, one of the places chosen to benefit from "Beauty with a Purpose". It was there that they met little baby Sunshine and her mother.

Sunshine suffers from a heart condition, and the staff at PGH have been doing all they can through medication and X-ray scans over the past few months. However, due to her worsening condition, she desperately needed emergency surgery, but the funds were not available.

Touched by her story and meeting Sunshine, Julia Morley has followed her progress since they first met and ensured that she has been prioritised for receiving the treatment she requires. Today is the day she undergoes surgery, and Julia Morley has personally paid for the procedure and made sure that she is cared for and looked after by the hospital team.

Everyone at Miss World sends their love and wishes to Sunshine, hoping for a successful operation and a speedy recovery.
