Lady Wilnelia Forsyth receives an Inspiration Award 2011

The Inspiration Awards celebrates women from diverse backgrounds who have inspired a nation. Along with projecting positive images of women and acknowledging those who are good role models, the event raises money and profile for breast cancer research. Awards are presented to the UK’s most inspirational, aspirational and stylish women; therefore it is no surprise to us at Miss World that the Wonderful Lady Forsyth, Wilnelia Merced, was presented with the ‘Style and Elegance’ award on Friday 7th October 2011.

Andrew Castle hosted the Awards night at the Cadogan hall, Sloane Terrace, London on Friday 7th October 2011. Previous winners and attendees have included Dames Helen Mirren and Kelly Holmes, Kylie Minogue and Joanna Lumley. Non celebrity winners have included ‘Help for Heroes’ founder Emma Parry, campaigner Sara Payne and Katie Piper.

The ‘Inspiration Awards for Women’ provides the younger generation with strong female role models. This year, the public voted for their favourite inspirational women from the 8 categories online and we are very proud of Wilnelia for receiving such a prestigious award in aid of a fantastic cause.

Wilnelia Merced, from Puerto Rico, became Miss World in 1975.
