Miss Bermuda Jana Outerbridge hosted a “Rag Mannequin” event to help raise funds to compete in the upcoming Miss World Pageant in London. Miss Bermuda set up outside a local store on Wednesday September 21st, collecting donations while wearing a dress featuring a skirt made of shredded newspapers. Jana won the 2011 Miss Bermuda Pageant on June 12th, beating 15 other competitors for the title. The 22-year-old is a graduate of Tennessee State University and participated in the Cabinet Office Jumpstart Programme working as a Cabinet Office intern. She will host an additional fundraising party this coming Saturday [Sept.24] with DJ Smokey, DJ Aztec and Vybez Alliance. Gina Swainson was crowned Miss World in London in 1979. She is the only Bermudian in history to win a major beauty pageant title and the country supported her success by featuring her face on a Bermuda Stamp during 1980. |
