19th July 2011 Kaiane special guest judge at Miss England Eco Fashion Show |
Kaiane Aldorino was last night on the panel of judges at the Miss England Eco Fashion Show which saw 61 Miss England finalists strutting their stuff on the catwalk dressed in their own creations made from recycled materials.
The show took place at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole and saw the girls in dresses made from recycled magazines, crisp packets, lampshades and even car parts! The 61 contestants who took part in the eco challenge, used their creative skills to design their own dresses in a bid to win the Miss Eco title.
Some of the more prominent outfits included one made out of car parts which featured car seats for shoulder pads, crushed headlights to detail the neckline and boots made of recycled car mats. Her love of music inspired one contestant to make a dress out of records, whilst another showed off her creation made out of tea bags and tea bag boxes.
Kaiane commented that “There was so much creativity, it was difficult to judge”. Other members of the judging panel included Sally Kettle (Miss England 2001), Martin and Terri Cody Owen (Publishers of Spa World Magazine), Alan Strutt (Celebrity Photographer) and Richard Farleigh (Dragon’s Den).
Out of the 61 contestants only 12 finalists were chosen. Each of the 12 girls were interviewed, they spoke about what inspired their creations and how they went about designing and then making their dresses.
