22nd December Cheque presented at Variety Christmas Lunch |
Miss England presented a cheque to Variety, the Children's Charity, for an incredible £109,000 raised throughout the year as part of Miss World's Beauty With A Purpose initiative.
The presentation took place at this year's annual Variety Club Christmas Lunch which was held this week with specially invited guests celebrating the festive period in style. Chairman of the Miss World Organisation, and International President of Variety, Julia Morley was in attendance, alongside Miss World 2009 Kaiane Aldorino, who had also taken the opportunity during her time in London to enjoy some Christmas shopping.
The total donated to Variety was the culmination of the past year's fundraising for the charity through the work done by all the Miss England finalists in the run up to the 2010 competition, and the eventual winner, Jessica Linley, who made the presentation. This included the presentation of a Variety Sunshine Coach, which provides much-needed transportation for disabled and disadvantaged children.
Beauty With A Purpose was created by Julia Morley as the theme at the heart of Miss World, and all national representatives are encouraged to support projects in their own countries, creating a worldwide network of support for local and international organisations in aid of charities across the globe.
