Announcement made in Beijing

The 2010 Miss World Final was announced to be held in Sanya, China, at a press conference in Beijing on July 12th. Chairman of the Miss World Organisation Julia Morley and reigning Miss World Kaiane Aldorino were in attendance to officially unveil the location of the 60th Miss World Final, marking the fifth time the Final will take place in the forever tropical paradise of Sanya since the city first hosted the Miss World event in 2003.

This year’s Final in Sanya will once again be held at the Beauty Crown Theatre, specially constructed to host the 2003 Final, and where Miss World 2007 Zhang Zilin was crowned in front of a home audience. The 60th Miss World will be crowned at the venue on October 30th, 2010.

At the signing ceremony, Deputy Mayor of Sanya Li Baiqing reflected on how successful the co-operation and friendship between Miss World and Sanya had been over the years and looked forward to continuing and developing this relationship into the future.

Julia Morley spoke of how touched she has been by the support and dedication Sanya has shown to Miss World, and how she had been delighted to discover that Sanya was not just a place of incredible beauty, but was also forward-looking and visionary. And as the Chinese calendar follows a sixty year cycle, Miss World has come full circle, a rare opportunity to mark a new era in its history as the event enters its 60th year.

Also announced as part of the month-long itinerary are visits to the capital Beijing, and Ordos in Inner Mongolia, one of the fastest developing cities in the country, for what promises to be the most exciting Miss World event yet.
