Alexandria on a cruise of Sydney Harbour

Supporting Variety's "Bush to the Beach"

Miss World Alexandria Mills has reached the last leg of her current international tour, making stops in both Melbourne and Sydney.

Alexandria and Miss World Africa Emma Wareus headed north of Sydney to the South Narrabeen Surf Club for a day with the "Bush to the Beach" program organised by Variety, The Children's Charity. For the past six years, the club has hosted an annual event in which 50 Aboriginal children from the rural town of Brewarrina make the 12-hour 850km bus journey to South Narrabeen for a weekend of activities, many of them experiencing the seaside for the first time in their lives. Joining Alexandria and Emma for the day was Sophie Lavers (Australia 2009), with representatives from Variety and local volunteers.

Alexandria said: "The kids were so excited, running on the beach and just being kids.  We really take these things for granted, so to give them the opportunity to take an adventure and see something they wouldn’t normally be able to is wonderful."

Upon their return to Sydney, Ashleigh Francis, Australia's representative at Miss World 2010, showed them some of the city's sights with a cruise around Sydney Harbour, and a visit to Sydney Wildlife World to see kangaroos and koalas.
