8th of December 2011 Miss World returns home to Venezuela |
It was a glorious welcome home over the weekend for the newly crowned Miss World, Ivian Sarcos from Venezuela. It’s been a long, but successful history for Venezuela in the Miss World finals, Ivian being crowned the sixth Miss World winner from the country. Coming together in celebration through a live televised event, Ivian Sarcos’ televised homecoming reached a spectacular 73% share of the viewing audience. Organized by Venevision and the Miss Venezuela Organization, the event was broadcast live on “Super Sabado Sensacional” and featured several talent acts and special guests. The new Miss World was unaware of the grand event and was surprised when she arrived in Caracas, greeted by her family, school friends, teachers and former Miss World contestants from Venezuela, such as Adriana Vasini (Miss World 2010 2nd runner up).
The opening ceremony featured a beautifully expressive choreographed dance from the Venevision Ballet. Presented by Leonardo Villalobos, Ivian was interviewed as she spoke of her plans for her reign in the next year. Performing a dance in tribute to Ivian’s performance during the Traditional Dance piece of the Miss World 2011 final, “Venezuela Viva Dancers” surrounded Ivian as she modeled her countries national dress. As the show continued, Miss World 2011 was serenaded by Gilberto Santarosa, a famous salsa singer from Puerto Rico. Several other musical acts graced the stage of the homecoming event, including Oscarcito, a young singer from Venezuela, and Guaco, a musical group also hailing from Ivian’s home country. Reuniting and congratulations were also on the agenda for the grand celebration, as Miss World 2011 was surprised by her new close friend, Miss World 2011 representative from Spain, Carla Garcia Barber.
As always, the crown is a symbol of fundraising. Therefore, many charitable moments graced the televised show. Ivian was given a donation to go towards the chemotherapy of a little girl she had been helping in Vzla. Dedicating a performance to Ivian, three children, Potrillo, Maria Emilia and Nestor, from the Venevision “Reality Song Show” delighted the audience with a musical number. Later during the homecoming visit, the reigning Miss World called on a children’s hospital, spending time with the patients and brightening their spirits.
Miss World 2011 is now on her way back to London where she will be finishing her English courses and continuing her work with Beauty with a Purpose.
