Zambia’s Miss World representative 2004, Rosemary Chileshe has been nominated to be an Olympic Torchbearer for London 2012. Her tireless efforts to raise and launch charitable projects have been honoured with a Gathering of Africa’s Best award for her HIV and Aids campaigning. Other achievements include: Best Former Beauty Queen at the BEFFTA (Black, Entertainment, Fashion, Film, Television and Arts) Awards, honoured with Joint Community Champion Award and a founder of the ROC Foundation- aims to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS and alleviate poverty on a bigger scale.
Rosemary was invited to have dinner with Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace on 12th November 2007. The reception was to recognise those who have “made a significant contribution to national life”. This was in recognition to Rosemary’s work through her charity work as well as her contribution to shading a positive light to Africa.
The charity campaigner, businesswoman and model, who spent her early life in Zambia but now lives in London, said it would be an ‘honour and privilege to carry the torch’.
Good Luck Rosemary!
