11th October 2010 MISS WORLD CONTESTANTS ARRIVE AT THE CROWNE PLAZA SANYA

The contestants in Miss World 2010 have landed in Sanya and been welcomed by management and staff at their home in China, the Crowne Plaza Sanya.

Waking up to glorious sunshine after an early hours arrival, the girls tucked into fantastic buffet brunch before heading into Sanya city for a welcome parade through streets lined by thousands of cheering locals.

“The welcome here has been amazing,’ said Ireland.  “I’ve been blown away by the hospitality we have received so far.  It’s like waking up in a dream.”

Croatia said:  “It’s so warm here but I like the sun.  I live on the coast in Croatia and love the sun and the sea.  Sanya is going to feel like a home away from home for me.”  Bosnia added:  “I’m from Sarajevo and China is a whole different experience for me.  Beijing, Shanghai and now Sanya – it’s all so different.  It’s a lot to take in but I’m loving every minute.”

After the parade, the contestants attended a welcome reception at the Crowne Plaza, attended by Sanya government dignitaries and hotel management.  Tempura and teriyaki stations served delicious vegetables and prawns, and scallop canapés were circulated, while the girls let their hair down and danced to the entertaining house band.

It’s fair to say that day one in Sanya has been packed with activities and the contestants have gone to sleep in the knowledge that they will wake tomorrow in China’s sunshine paradise, Sanya.
