9th October 2010 Shanghai EXPO Shares with Miss World |
Shanghai’s international EXPO has a lot in common with Miss World. Most notably, it brings together many nations of the world to share their common interests and showcase the best of their culture.
The exposition of national achievements and promise is held in Shanghai this year, with impressive new buildings and pavilions built on a riverside site near the city centre. The China Pavilion is one of the most recognisable buildings added to the busy Shanghai skyline.
Its massive red structure looms high over the EXPO site. Inside, visitors can experience different regions of China in one large space, showing the wonders of a modern state and providing a glimpse into the potential of the future.
Visiting the Hainan province zone of the China Pavilion, some contestants were chosen to wear traditional shawls produced by the Ley people of Hainan.
Norway said: “These are such beautiful handicrafts, they must have taken many hours of hard work to weave and sow.”
The young women also climbed about colourful floats to tour the EXPO site and wave enthusiastically at the gathered crowds turned out to cheer the Miss World 2010 contestants on their tour of the world on one site.
