Having hosted the Miss World Final in 2003-2005 and 2007, as well as the Mr World Final 2007, the “Forever Tropical Paradise” Sanya has fast become one of the most popular holiday destinations in Asia, drawing in tourists all year round from both home and abroad in search of sunshine and beautiful beaches. As the only tropical beach city in China, Sanya is particularly popular during Chinese New Year celebrations and the Duanwu (Dragon Boat) Festival.
The Beauty Crown Theatre, located in the city centre, was purpose built for the Miss World 2003 Final, hence its name and unique shape and design. At 36 metres high and covering some 10,000 square metres, the theatre can hold up to 3,500 attendees, making it one of the largest entertainment venues in the country.
Sanya’s international profile has risen as the Miss World and Mr World Finals have paved the way for other important international events to be held there.
And now with the 60th Miss World Final, the eyes of the world will once again turn to Sanya on October 30th 2010.
