18th February Miss World 2007 Chosen for International Campaign

Miss World 2007 Zhang Zilin was chosen to present the modern face of China to an international audience as part of the 'Experience China' advertising campaign. The new promotional video debuted in New York's Times Square, taking over six giant screens in one of the world's most famous and busiest locations.

Launched to coincide with President Hu Jintao's visit to the United States, the 60-second commercial was shown from January 17th over four weeks, 15 times an hour from 6am to 2am every day, a total of 8400 times. The 50 metre high electronic billboards showed a selection of 50 significant figures from the world of business, sports, science, arts, and entertainment, as well as ordinary Chinese people. Zhang Zilin appears in the first segment, 'Stunning Chinese Beauty', alongside actresses Zhang Ziyi, Zhou Xun, Fan Bingbing, and dancer Yang Liping. Other famous faces include film director John Woo, pianist Lang Lang, basketball star Yao Ming, and astronaut Yang Liwei. A 30 second version of the advertisement was also broadcast on CNN over the same 4 weeks.
